Clinical Laboratory Lead-Genomics Platform Production Cambridge, MA Job Description CLINICAL LABORATORY COORDINATOR OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY Individual will be primary production floor resource responsible for the production and operations of the day to day activities of the production team. Individual will manage production and equipment resources to meet production goals including monitoring throughput for all processes and operations, scheduling workflow, and ensuring efficient processing of samples while maintaining optimal quality. Individual will supervise direct reports. Individual will also be routinely running production in addition to coordinating day to day operations. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES Scientific Duties: Fully trained on all product procedures actively coordinating on, as well as all related automation, quality control assays and Broad Quality Management System procedures. Monitors daily workflow of all samples, ensuring that volume metrics are tracked and reported in various databases on a regular basis. Ensures that appropriate detection capacity needs are met. Reviews work metrics. Resolves technical problems and ensures remedial actions have been taken. Escalates personnel and/or laboratory issues to Manager. --Monitors and records status of workflow queues; ensures timely processing of samples without compromising quality. Coordinates team workflow by scheduling projects, ensuring that priority projects are triaged appropriately in conjunction with bulk production work. Gathers and organizes process data such as turnaround time, material yields, forecasts, automation performance, and reports such data to Supervisor/Manager on a regular and timely basis. Serves as production floor resource for Supervisors/Managers at process interfaces such as with the LIMS/Analytical departments, Supply and Quality Management, and other lab departments. Works with EH&S representative to enforce compliance with biosafety regulations in accordance with state and local requirements. Assist EHS with implementation and management of lab safety programs as well as ensure team and lab are in compliance Forecasts materials and supply needs and ensures quality control testing of critical reagents. Works with SQM in assisting with reagent/consumable forecasting and issues. Assists in troubleshooting quality issues alongside DEV team. Organizes FIRE meetings and reports on updates to management. Assists team in creating and updating A3 Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement projects.-- Communicates and follows up on repair and maintenance needs for all relevant Production processes and automation and ensures fixes are verified before production. Assist in Quarterly Goal targets, Change Management compliance, and Implementation procedures. Helps others and performs duties that need to be performed even when unassigned.-- Continue working in laboratory production queues on a daily basis. --Other tasks as required. --Responsible for employee training on standard protocols and procedures.-- Ensure that staff are familiar with specific protocols. Provide sufficient oversight of team to assure that they diligently follow all protocol procedures and all general policies and are in compliance with BQMS. Create and sign off on Personnel Training Plans and Logs Assist in leading team weekly meetings; review and assist with closing out BQMS deviation tickets. Assist in reviewing and providing follow up to quality reporting meetings. Works with supervisor/Managers to ensure that all staffing needs are met. Assist in the hiring by interviewing applicants for team positions and gathering team feedback. Coordinates and manages new laboratory employee orientation.-- Acts as a role model for other laboratory personnel to follow. Identifies training and education needs of individuals performing tests. Demonstrates the ability to assess a situation from many perspectives, consider various alternatives and propose the appropriate action to their supervisors. Demonstrates good leadership by developing standards of performance, following BQMS policies, and areas responsible for accountability. Makes effort to expand knowledge of departmental and laboratory operations (attends continuing management education courses provided by Broad) Provide one on one on weekly basis with direct reports; maintaining mentorship of the direct reports. Maintaining personnel files and records Provide performance evaluations and feedback Performs duties in an independent manner with no direct supervision required. Assumes the responsibilities and makes decisions as needed in the absence of the supervisor. Participates in meetings (Execution Board, Operations and Product Performance Board, etc); facilitates discussion with data and recommendations for process improvement. QUALIFICATIONS --Bachelor's degree in science or equivalent required. 3 years experience with laboratory techniques and some supervisory experience required. Experience in high-throughput lab environment with automation preferred. Some supervisory, scientific development, and organizational experience preferred. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively with an interdisciplinary group of computer scientists and laboratory biologists. Excellent critical thinking and analytical skill required.
