Summary / purpose of the position

To administer, analyze, and review employee benefit programs and policies in the US & Canada, including the integration of benefit programs following mergers and acquisitions. To support international and domestic mobility and contribute to the design and continuous improvement of benefits programs and overall rewards and mobility processes.

Main responsibilities / job expectations

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage the administration, delivery and support of employee benefits programs and related procedures to ensure successful adoption and compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend modifications or enhancements to benefits programs and policies to ensure they are current, competitive, in compliance with legal requirements and aligned with the company's global strategy.
  • Mediate between benefits providers and employees, by assisting in handling employees' benefits-related questions, researching benefits issues and work closely with brokers to resolve benefits issues.
  • Recommend process improvements in support of strategic initiatives or as triggered by changes to regulation, technology, or business needs, automating and simplifying these wherever possible.
  • Manage vendors to ensure excellent employee experience. Audit vendor service level agreements and recommend improvements to service and contract enhancements.
  • Develop and manage benefits compliance calendar and maintain required plan documents. Responsible for external and internal benefits compliance testing, reporting, filings, notices, disclosures, etc. including adjustments to HCEs and communications related to compliance. Collaborate with the legal team to ensure legislative compliance.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating all US benefits plan documents and policies to ensure compliance with external regulations and internal business ethics requirements.
  • Manage all benefits integration and harmonization resulting from business development activities, working with external partners to ensure systems are ready, working with internal stakeholders to ensure communications, processes and governance steps are clear. Support individual cases related to leave and COBRA related to acquisition integration.
  • Develops impactful benefits-related HR Analytics, including ongoing reporting of cost - value dashboards, financial reporting, and ad-hoc reports.
  • Manages annual recurrent Benefit Projects locally in North America such as annual enrollment projects for benefits, Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation (NQDC) plan and 401(k) plan. This includes any activities related to RFP, broker negotiations, presenting to Global C&B, finalizing rates, contracts/agreements, employee information sessions, benefit summaries or other collateral materials, communications to HR leadership/HR/employees, updating virtual benefits fair/MyIpsen intranet, AskHR, etc.
  • Responsible for market competitive analysis, including data submission to external survey providers on total rewards policies and practices.
  • Proactively collaborates with HR CoE Teams and Business Partners in program delivery and other projects as assigned. Maintain clear understanding of the integration with other HR and Finance workstreams (e.g., payroll, accounting, etc.) and the downward impact of Total Rewards decisions and process changes. Manage benefits reports, budgeting and forecasting work with Finance team.
  • Lead and support the implementation of specific rewards-related projects for the region, such as Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Manage domestic mobility and international permanent transfers for the region in close collaboration with the International Mobility team and external immigration and tax vendors.
  • Manage all disability claims and leaves of absence for the US. Partner with external vendors, HRBPs, People services and Payroll to ensure cases are monitored, tracked and employees are paid properly. Respond to employee queries and manage escalations with vendors.

    Knowledge, abilities & experience

    Education / Certifications:
    • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of US Benefits experience
    • Benefits or rewards certification a plus

      • In-depth understanding of the benefits concepts and principles.
      • Performs complex tasks and has some latitude for determining appropriate processes to follow.
      • Administers departmental policies and procedures, evaluates results and performance, and assists with the development of new or modified budgets, policies, or procedures.

            The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000-$165,000. This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentives program.

            The pay range displayed above is the range of base pay compensation within which Ipsen expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting. Individual compensation within this range depends on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge and demonstrated skills.
