Job Description - Director, Data Architecture and Governance
(230603) Director, Data Architecture and Governance ( Job Number:
230603 ) Overview Alnylam Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Director of
Data Architecture and Governance to oversee and advance our data
management strategy. The ideal candidate should have in-depth
knowledge of data management, analytics, and governance, as well as
strong leadership skills. You will be responsible for developing
and implementing our overall data strategy, architecture, and
governance framework for Alnylam. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee the implementation of Alnylam's data
architecture and data governance framework, policies, standards,
and procedures related to data quality, security, lifecycle
management, metadata, etc. -
- Document the data architecture and environment to maintain a
current and accurate view of the larger data picture. Identify and
develop opportunities for data reuse, migration, or retirement.

- Collaborate with IT, and business teams on all projects
involving enterprise data to understand needs, design and implement
data architecture solutions, including data models, data flows,
data structures, and metadata standards. -
- Stay current on regulations, compliance requirements, and
leading practices related to data. Partner with information
security, legal & compliance teams to ensure adherence with legal
and regulatory requirements. -
- Assess, develop, and promote data governance methodologies and
standards in collaboration with key stakeholders. Build and oversee
processes for data issue identification, remediation & continuous
improvement. Establish metrics and reporting on the effectiveness
of data governance initiatives.
- Monitor and apply emerging technologies that can help to
improve data architecture design and enhance data management
significantly.
- Act as a leader and advocate of data management, including
coaching, training, and mentoring data engineers, BI developers,
and administrators, facilitating their professional
development.
- Lead efforts to assess current state of data assets, identify
gaps, and define roadmap for maturing Alnylam's data architecture
and use of data as a strategic asset. Create short-term tactical
solutions to achieve long-term objectives, integrating it with the
overall strategy.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers to select the
products or services that best meet Alnylam goals.
- Select and implement the appropriate tools, software,
applications, and systems to support data technology goals.
Qualifications - 8-10 years' work experience as a data or
information architect. - Bachelor's degree in computer science,
analytics, or related field required. - Required experience in the
pharmaceutical or healthcare industry. Working knowledge of how
data is used in biopharma processes including R&D,
manufacturing, and data challenges. - Expertise in data analysis,
architecting, large-scale data modeling, and business requirements
gathering/analysis. - Direct experience in implementing enterprise
data management, governance processes, procedures, metadata
management and associated processes. - Hands-on knowledge of
enterprise repository tools, data modeling tools, and data
cataloging tools. - Experience with business requirements analysis,
entity relationship planning, database design, reporting
structures, and so on. - Preferred experience with o Data
management platforms - DataBricks, Snowflake, o Integration
platform - Boomi, and o Data catalog platform - data.world o Cloud
Services - AWS and Azure - Good knowledge of applicable data
privacy and regulatory practices and laws in biopharma. About
