independent research and business unit for genomic medicines,
called Moderna Genomics (mGx) based in Technology Square,
Cambridge, MA. -mGx is an innovation engine for the company focused
on discovering and delivering the next generation of in vivo gene
editing and nonviral gene therapies and our ultimate vision is to
enable Personalized Gene Editing.Moderna is seeking a motivated and
energetic Sr. Director of Alliance Management and Operation
Excellence to support our team as it scales internally and through
external partnerships. The successful candidate will be highly
detailed and well organized in leading and managing the complexity
of multiple external partnerships with a team of alliance managers.
This role will work in close collaboration with the
cross-functional leadership and program leaders to shape program
strategy, drive execution plans that anticipate and meet the vastly
different needs of various phases of drug discovery and preclinical
development to enable efficient and effective organizational
growth. This may be accomplished both by individual contributions
as a project/program managers and through hiring, developing, and
managing an Operational Excellence team. The successful candidate
will have research organizational management experience across
multiple phases of development in one or more of the pipeline areas
of focus and a history of direct line management of others.Here's
What You'll Do:
- Lead, mentor and train a team to support multiple alliances and
programs, as required based on the Moderna Genomics vision to
personalize gene editing medicines
- Build relationships with key stakeholders (team members,
functional leads, external alliance counterparts) to ensure
alignment and accountability for functional, program and
organizational objectives
- Contribute to Program Management initiatives to support
portfolio development and scaling of capabilities, tools, and
processes.
- Support the Moderna Genomics leadership in initiatives to build
the organization and operationalize the vision, including space and
personnel planning that span near and long-term visions for our
rapidly scaling team, including significant capability and
automation builds
- Partner with the program leader(s) and cross-functional leaders
across the clinical development organization to shape
organizational strategy and execution plan.
- Coordinate team efforts to develop impactful presentations to
summarize complex topics into critical points to facilitate
strategic planning and decision-making spanning technically focused
discussions to strategic discussions involving senior leadership.
Preparing program status update and governance presentations.
- Develop and track activities against program/research timelines
and budgets across Moderna Genomics portfolio programs and
alliances.
- Working with the Finance group to implement and track program
and organizational budget(s).Here's What You'll Need (Minimum
Qualifications)
- MBA and BA or BS degree in a scientific field with a minimum of
15 years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting
or MBA and MS degree in a scientific field with at least 10 years
of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting. -
- Experience in drug development across multiple phases including
discovery through lead nomination
- Proven Formal project/program management track record
- Proven track record of successful alliance and project
management experience
- Strong direct-line management experience managing a high
performing team
- Prior experience managing or working within cross-functional
project teams with timeline management and budgetary
responsibilityPreferred Qualifications
- Must be adept at working in a fluid environment and foster a
strong collaborative spirit internally and externally
- Strong personal skills to influence without authority, motivate
others and manage conflict.
- Strong written and oral communication skills as well as
demonstrated organizational -aptitude
- Strong working knowledge of project management tools (e.g.,
msproject, smartsheet, ThinkCell and timeline visualization
