Nonclinical Research and Development (NCRD) is an integrated
function with responsibility for characterizing nonclinical safety
and disposition characteristics of the entire BMS Research and
Development pipeline programs, with critical role from early
discovery to submission of marketing authorization applications. -
We utilize our deep expertise in toxicology/pathology, ADME, PK/PD,
biopharmaceutics and Bioanalytics in all modalities (small and
large molecules, cellular therapies and other novel modalities) to
collaborate with peer R&D functions to identify and solve
issues, discover high quality drug candidates, enable their
clinical development and successful marketing authorizations across
the globe.

We are seeking an experienced, exceptional toxicologist who will
work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary matrixed team within our
Discovery Toxicology organization to generate, interpret and
translate data from nonclinical studies. The successful candidate
will lead the development and execution of mechanistic
investigations and biomarker strategies for programs in a wide
variety of therapeutic areas. - This individual will design
experiments to provide a complete toxicological profile of
compounds and lead biomarker efforts to inform advancement into
early non-clinical development. Experience in the analysis of
multi-dimensional data sets, a strong understanding of oncology and
immunology are desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Be the toxicology lead and engage cross-functional departmental
teams to execute strategies to generate, analyze, and interpret
data from non-clinical toxicology studies.
Identify, establish and oversee external collaborations with key
opinion leaders, consortium and CROs to advance our understanding
of toxicology.
Collaborate with Research Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics and
other functions to create synergy in developing research
approaches.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 15+ years of academic / industry experience
OR
Master's Degree and 12+ years of academic / industry experience
OR
PhD and 8+ years of academic / industry experience
PLUS
6 or more years of leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Toxicology or a relevant discipline with a minimum of 5-10
years relevant experience in industry or related rigorous research
environment.
Demonstrated expertise in toxicology or a closely related field
Strong experimental background and experience in hypothesis-driven
biological/translational research with demonstrated ability to
execute well-designed experiments.
Ability to integrate complex scientific ideas and generate testable
hypotheses
Experience with generation and analysis genomic or multiplexed
protein detection or other related emerging platforms is
desirable.
Broad understanding of drug discovery and development in both
early- and late-stage development and familiarity with regulatory
approval process.
Comprehensive knowledge of animal and human biology and physiology,
especially clinical and functional changes associated with toxicity
and mechanism of action of disease or toxicity.
Effective written and oral communication skills and ability to
manage multiple research activities.
Provides and accepts inputs on study design and data interpretation
and fosters a spirit of teamwork.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex scientific problems and
excellent organizational skills.
Must be a highly flexible, results oriented, independent
self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic
environment.
