Job Description:
The Associate Director of Donor Relations is responsible for
developing and implementing strategic donor communications that
support the mission and priorities of Harvard Law School. This role
manages a wide range of donor relations programs, including fund
reporting, annual report of gifts, gift acknowledgements, and
pledge reminders. Working within a larger team, the Associate
Director provides high-level writing, editing, strategy, and
content guidance, and manages a team of three direct reports. -
Position Description As Associate Director you will: - Develop and
implement strategies to optimize fund reporting, acknowledgement,
and donor engagement practices, ensuring that donors are adequately
recognized for their gifts. Create and edit content for fund
reports, giving opportunities, acknowledgment letters, pledge
reminders, brochures, and other donor-focused communications. -
Research and draft talking points and briefing materials for the
Dean of Harvard Law School and other speakers. Collaborates with
the Director of Donor Relations and Development Communications and
senior leadership to frame key messages. Collaborate with the Dean
for Development and Alumni Relations to draft complex multimillion
dollar gift opportunity proposals. Duties include researching
opportunities, developing the case for need, collaborating with
faculty and staff, and drafting proposals. Manage the Law School's
fund reporting program; establish the fund reporting calendar and
partner with internal stakeholders to prepare donor reports.
Resolve financial issues, research fund purposes, and communicate
findings with donors according to reporting calendar. Address donor
relations issues in collaboration with fundraisers and
administrators to ensure terms and spending compliance. Monitor
funds to ensure that they are being used according to donors'
intentions. - Establish, track, and analyze metrics to improve
donor relations processes and strategies. - Collaborate closely
with other Law School departments including the Financial Office,
the Office of Student Financial Services, and the Graduate Program.
- Serve as a member of the University Donor Relations Committee. -
Perform other duties as required. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's
degree or equivalent experience. 7 or more years' progressive
experience in development/donor relations and communications,
preferably within a higher education setting. Additional
Qualifications and Skills We are looking for people with: - Proven
experience in writing, editing, and proofreading. Demonstrated
experience developing and managing programs, projects, and people.

Effective communication and collaboration. Have a commitment to

learning environment. - Working ConditionsThis position is based on
campus in Cambridge, MA. There is an opportunity for a
hybrid/remote work arrangement, subject to business need and
manager review and approval.
Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends as required.
