Description: Plans, directs, and supervises all technical aspects
of the departments in regard to services, programs, and evaluations
of such programs. Recommends action to the Vice President
Administration and the Chairmen of Radiology in regard to equipment
modifications, new equipment, and essential construction supporting
the department. Assists in the planning for all new facilities and
recommends facilities, equipment, and personnel needs and lead
implementation of new programs and equipment. Is directly
responsible for the maintenance of existing equipment and such
contractual services as may be required. Coordinates departmental
purchasing and is responsible for stock level, storage, and
utilization. Maintains radiology services in accordance with
standards established by the department chairmen and such state,
local, and federal standards which may apply. Serves as Assistant
Radiation Safety Officer in the hospital and assures compliance
with all regulations governing the use of ionizing radiation.
Administers the department. Prepares reports, documents, payroll
records, statistical surveys, and other data required. Participates
in recruitment, selection, supervision, and when necessary
discipline or discharge of all staff. Is responsible for staff
competency, work assignments, call arrangements, and such changes
as may be required. Participates in the employee performance review
process. Interviews, selects, trains, and supervises all
supervisors. Represents the departments at administrative
conferences and may represent the department chairmen in other than
medical aspects, and upon delegation may be instructed to act on
the chairman's behalf. Facilitates the timely resolution of inter-
and intradepartmental problems. Identifies and pursues
opportunities to improve service, quality, and efficiency, and
actively involves staff and stakeholders in improvement efforts.
Provides support for the intern and residency programs. Negotiates
affiliation agreements for technologist training programs.
Participates in community health education and career programs.
Works with the Nurse Manager of Hematology/Oncology to coordinate
the radiation oncology program. Serves as the primary contact with
contracted therapy service providers. Administers the radiation
therapy contracts and the radiation oncology budget. Oversees cost
center budget preparation and monitors departmental budget
including personnel, supply, expense, and capital equipment
budgets. Takes action and/or recommends steps necessary to maintain
operations with budget Maintains department quality assurance
programs. Participates in work groups with peers and all levels of
hospital personnel on a variety of organizational issues Maintains
current knowledge of the field through periodicals, inservice
programs, and attendance at appropriate seminars and meetings.
Supports and participates in the hospital's commitment to

objective data, plans, implements, and evaluates processes that
result in the delivery of integrated services. Works under the
direction of the Vice President Administration and the Chairman of
