Title: Manager, People Operations Term: Full-timeLocation: Remote, within the U.S.Compensation: $90,000, plus 10% annual bonus target, based on individual and company performanceOverview:Solstice is an award-winning clean energy company working to put affordable renewable energy in the hands of every household, including low-income populations and communities of color. The clean energy revolution is happening now; Solstice is working to ensure this transition is equitable and widespread by making it simpler and more affordable than ever for homeowners, businesses, and even renters to go solar. With surging demand for renewable energy, Solstice is poised for significant scale. As a result, we are seeking a passionate, gregarious, self-starting, high-performing, and detail-oriented HR generalist and recruiting professional to lead our people operations. You'll manage the end-to-end recruitment process, curate a comprehensive and engaging onboarding experience, develop and ensure compliance with HR policies, coordinate open enrollment and manage benefits packages, spearhead performance evaluation and promotion processes, and lead professional development opportunities. This position will report to the Director of Operations. Responsibilities:

  • Hiring & Recruitment
    • Post job descriptions across various recruitment channels
    • Proactively source talent through social networks like LinkedIn Recruiter and other talent databases
    • Focus on DEI initiatives to ensure that Solstice attracts, supports, and retains the best talent from a diverse field. You'll mitigate implicit and explicit bias and ensure fair hiring practices and an inclusive workplace.
    • Screen new candidates through phone/video calls. You'll be the face of Solstice to new candidates, as you are the first point of contact in the process.
    • Coordinate with hiring managers to move candidates through the interview process efficiently by scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, and following up, including new employee/contractor paperwork
    • Manage and oversee the onboarding process, continuously seeking to improve the experience for our new hires by taking into account new hire feedback and identifying opportunities to refresh content as our organization evolves
    • Design and implement additional employee trainings as needed
    • Retention & Development
      • Serve as the primary point of contact for any HR-related issues on the team
      • Assess and plan training or professional development opportunities for employees, in coordination with management
      • Assist interested employees with career pathing
      • Coordinate the preparation and processing of employee performance reviews
      • Manage and resolve employee relations issues
      • Develop and conduct "stay" interviews towards the goal of strengthening employee retention strategies
      • Conduct offboarding processes, including interviews with departing employees and tracking reasons for voluntary terminations to inform future recruitment and retention strategies
      • Assist in development of compensation plans, in collaboration with senior management and department heads
      • Maintain Employee Handbook; reinforce the company policies, rules, and procedures
      • Maintain HR records in accordance with company best practices and legal and regulatory protocols
      • Oversee employee labor laws and regulations to assure compliance
      • Culture & Feedback
        • Recommend, develop, and implement cultural and communication practices to foster a positive and productive internal community
        • Solicit feedback from employees, give actionable insights to improve employee experience, and close feedback loops
        • Benefits Administration
          • Process company-wide benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in a timely manner and with accuracy
          • Use HR software to manage payroll and employee benefits, including administration of bonuses, leaves, and absences
          • Talent Communications
            • Coordinate with Marketing to draft and post social media content to attract candidates
            • Other people operations projects as needed
              • At least 3-5 years of experience in human resources and recruiting/hiring, with experience in training, benefits, labor compliance, and compensation planning preferred
              • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and application of HR concepts, practices, and appropriate employment laws (EEO, ADA, FMLA, etc.)
              • Ability to analyze and diagnose issues, potential risks to the organization, develop alternative solutions, and recommend and implement an effective course of action while exercising good judgment and commitment to fairness and honesty
              • Mature, professional, and judicious demeanor with complete respect for confidentiality of sensitive data
              • Track record of scaling teams in a growth environment
              • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; self-identified "people person"
              • Extraordinary attention to detail, highly organized, and efficient; ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
              • Proactive self-starter, team-oriented, and empathetic, with the ability to maintain objectivity when conflicts arise
              • Adept at cultural translation and code-switching: you can have an in-depth conversation with a software engineer, nonprofit executive, and a marketing whiz all in one day
              • Proficient at MS Office and Google Docs; understanding of Workable and Gusto a bonus
