OneTen Project Director, Senior ResearcherHarvard Business School59821BRJob SummaryHarvard Business School (HBS) is academic partner to the OneTen Initiative, a coalition of more than seventy leading organizations committed to hiring one million Black individuals into jobs with family-sustaining wages and opportunities for advancement. Chaired by Professors Robin Ely, Boris Groysberg, and Linda Hill, the School's OneTen engagement will entail three main streams of activity:

  • Research: development of cases, articles, reports, and other output for various audiences.
  • Convening & dissemination: Facilitating in-person and virtual gatherings to share best practices and learnings; marketing of insights through various channels. -
  • Education: Creation of materials and programs through various School channels. HBS seeks a Project Director, Senior Researcher to support the School's OneTen engagement and related activities. The Project Director, Senior Researcher is a leadership position critical to the success of this effort.Position DescriptionWorking closely with the faculty co-chairs and the School's Gender Initiative, the Project Director, Senior Researcher will:
    • Lead implementation of project plans, including:
      • Working with faculty to scope and design research efforts.
      • Planning and managing meetings among stakeholders and partners.
      • Managing timelines and deliverables, including overseeing work performed by the OneTen Research Associate.
      • Develop cases, articles, reports, and other output for various audiences. Develop and maintain practitioner-facing content in consultation with faculty and Gender Initiative director.
      • Plan and execute in-person and virtual gatherings to share best practices and learnings.
      • Serve as an ambassador and point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and collaborators.
      • Manage public relations and marketing activities including web presence, digital communications, and coordination with HBS marketing team.
      • Work with faculty on the creation of educational content and programming and lead execution of educational offerings.
      • Be responsible for other duties as assigned.Basic Qualifications
        • Master's/advanced degree with 5 years of relevant work experience or Bachelor's degree with 7 years of relevant work experience is required.
        • Strong skills related to the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel, are a must.
        • Evidence of prior high-quality, original academic writing required.
        • Evidence of outstanding academic achievement and excellent writing and editing skills.
        • Indication of independent research experience and/or applied experience. Ability to read academic, subject-specific information and write a reasoned and thoughtful analysis necessary.
        • Background in analysis and interpretation of relevant data, research, news, and literature is necessary.Additional Qualifications and Skills
          • This position requires an individual capable of consistent use of discretion, judgment, and initiative.
          • The candidate must have extremely high standards in terms of quality of work, attention to detail, strong organization skills, and absolute commitment to task completion.
          • Must be able to balance multiple tasks and shifting priorities under tight deadlines at an accelerated pace when necessary.
          • Proven ability to work independently and creatively.
          • Research experience in the study of race and inequality preferred.
          • It is helpful if the candidate is familiar with navigating a complex organization.
          • Experience working with multiple stakeholders a plus.Additional InformationThis position is offered as a term appointment through June 30, 2023 (with possibility of renewal/extension.) All HBS Research Associate roles are structured as one-year appointments.

            This role is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA based campus a few days per week. Specific days and schedule will be determined between you and your manager.
