Harvard Law School59766BRJob Summary The Assistant Director of Prospect Development is responsible for identifying new major gift ($100K+) and leadership-level annual fund donors. Oversees projects that are designed to identify new prospects, re-evaluate known prospects, and build the pipeline of potential donors. Coordinates presentation of new prospects to fundraisers in an effort to move people from pipeline to portfolio. Responsible for conducting research on prospects and managing special projects as needed. - Position Description As Assistant Director you will: - Proactively and independently identify and assess potential new major gift and leadership donors for Harvard Law School. - Conduct analysis of HLS constituent data to support prospecting and prospect development. - Analyze accumulated data to assess individual capacity and make direct connections between School priorities and prospects' giving interests based on available data. - Conduct research on prospects being targeted by HLS for significant contributions. - Find and analyze biographical, professional, philanthropic, and financial information on prospects and donors. - Provide recommendations to development officers on newly identified prospects, especially at the major gift-level ($100K+ capacity). - Prepare research briefings on prospects for development staff, senior faculty, and administrators. - Monitor publications and other sources to identify prospects. - Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 5 years' experience in institutional advancement or transferable field. - Additional Qualifications and Skills We are looking for people who: - Have experience working with relational databases, especially in a fundraising context. - Possess investigative and research skills and have demonstrated proficiency in the methods of information acquisition through online directories and other resources. Have an ability to analyze and synthesize data and information from a wide variety of sources, presenting the resulting information clearly and efficiently. - Can organize and prioritize a wide range of assignments and projects while demonstrating attention to detail, accountability, and follow through. - Are a creative problem solver and able to work independently and as a member of a team. Can handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with discretion. - Have a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive working environment. Working Conditions Must be available to occasionally work evenings and weekends to staff events on campus. This position is based on campus in Cambridge, MA. There may be an opportunity to work a hybrid/remote schedule based on business needs and with supervisor approval.
