Scholar Rock is a Phase 3, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of innovative medicines for the treatment of serious diseases in which signaling by protein growth factors plays a fundamental role. Our most advanced investigational product candidate, apitegromab (SRK-015), a selective inhibitor of the activation of the growth factor myostatin in skeletal muscle, is in development for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA. Following positive results from the TOPAZ Phase 2 trial in patients with Type 2 and Type 3 SMA, we are now advancing apitegromab development through SAPPHIRE, an ongoing, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 3 clinical trial. In addition, we are conducting our DRAGON Phase 1 proof-of-concept trial for SRK-181, a selective inhibitor of latent TGF--1 activation, in patients with locally advanced and metastatic solid tumors. By combining our deep structural insights with antibody drug discovery, Scholar Rock is creating a pipeline of novel product candidates with the potential to transform the lives of patients suffering from a wide range of serious diseases, including neuromuscular disorders, cancer, and fibrosis. Summary of Position: Scholar R ock is seeking a Sr. ManagerofFacilities whowill be pivotal to ournear and long termsuccess and will be viewed as an influencer in the organization.   • Oversee all aspects of Scholar Rock's facilities, and serve as the primary liaison to property management, contractors, vendors, and personnel. -
  • Oversee laboratory operations including, instrument preventative maintenance (PM), repairs & calibration, glass wash, autoclave workflows, chemical and biological inventory tracking, receiving and efficient dispersion of incoming materials, and more
  • Responsible for overseeing EH&S including policies & procedures, training, maintaining safety data sheets (SDS), incident reporting/tracking, ergonomics and more.
  • Oversee facility planning, design, and execution, including reconfiguration and expansion; Work with research leaders to organize and manage current and future state of Scholar Rock's lab space and resources, including allocating freezer/ refrigerator/ liquid nitrogen space, etc.
  • Implement new processes that increase the operational efficiency of the facility and lab operations.
  • Monitor and maintain building functions, including lighting, HVAC, backup power, life safety, and all other building support functions
  • Work with Finance and Legal to obtain contract bids, negotiating contracts and pricing as necessary
  • Interface with Federal, State, County, and City agencies as required for ongoing operations and maintaining compliance with relevant codes
  • Develop and maintain effective vendor relationships
  • Hiring and management of facilities personnel
  • Manage janitorial and day porter services at all local facilities
  • Operational oversight of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Part of 24-hour response team for facility and EH&S issues and emergencies.Candidate Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in similar function
    • 5+ years of facilities management experience
    • Prior experience in Biotech or Pharma environment a must. Exposure to GMP a plus
    • Demonstrated success in maintaining similar size and function facilities (approximately 30,000-60,000+ square feet, 60% lab, 40% office), including build-outs, moves, renovations, and reconfigurations
    • Capability to communicate with all levels of employees and outside vendors and contractors
    • Demonstrated strong collaborative skills
    • Strong oral, writing and interpersonal communication skills
    • Well organized and stays on schedule, able to function under pressure in a rapidly changing environment, emphasis on quality
    • Experience with tools and simple mechanical, plumbing and electrical work. Able to supervise trades as necessary.
    • Able to lift and move up to 50 lbs
