The Vice President, reporting to the SVP, Head of Medical Affairs, will be a member of the Medical Affairs Leadership Team (MALT) and be responsible for providing strategic and scientific leadership. The successful candidate will lead a small team of global Medical Directors, accountable for setting global medical strategy including Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), global diagnostics, medical research covering IISs and registries, and compassionate use and early access programs. This individual will partner with regional medical leadership, Global medical affairs leads (GMALs), and other stakeholders.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and scientific leadership to the VESt team
  • Represent VESt at the MALT
  • Provide strategic guidance and ensure execution of HEOR book of work covering marketed products and assets in development
  • Accountable for strategic oversight and execution of global diagnostic plan
  • Co-chair the MARB committee which reviews IISs
  • Guide team that oversees IISs and registries
  • Oversee compassionate use policy and individual requests, and large early access protocols and studies


    • MD, PhD in life sciences, PharmD
    • 10+ years of demonstrated high-level professional knowledge and skills in the areas of medical affairs and R&D in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
    • 5+ years in leading teams in R&D (medical affairs, medical operations, and/or clinical development).
    • Demonstrate experience in working with rare or genetic diseases in a fast clinical and product development timeline
    • Knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industry and evidence generation with an understanding of key regulatory bodies
    • High degree of professionalism, maturity, and confidentiality
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as strong leadership and interpersonal skills
    • Demonstrated reputation as a well-respected, dynamic team leader, player and coach
    • Capable of managing shifting priorities in a rapidly changing and environment
    • Ability to deliver on company global program goals and objectives as they pertain to medical affairs
    • Ability to affect positive organizational change at the company and team levels
    • Some travel will be required
    • If employed in the U.S., being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is required
