At Ipsen, we're making hope a reality for the patients we serve.Position SummaryThe Associate Director coordinates the development and implementation of a Best-in-Class Medical Education and Scientific Engagement strategy for US Medical Affairs in collaboration with internal stakeholders, therapeutic area experts, scientific societies and other third parties, to provide tailored education focused on improving patient outcomes.Candidate will serve in Medical Affairs mastering stakeholder management for cross functional teams, He/She will also be responsible for External engagement and external and internal medical education, field excellence, congress management, medical grants, advisory boards.This position will report to the Director, US Medical ExcellenceEssential FunctionsResponsibilitiesCoordinate and define the medical education strategy across TAs in the USCoordinate with the TA Medical Directors and across functions (incl global) within the medical matrix on an insights-driven process to develop deeper patient and physician's journey maps to design tailored education strategies Identify educational gaps and differentiated collaboration opportunities to enhance evidence-based medical education, through (not limited to) partnerships with US medical societies and centers of excellence, literature reviews and advisory-boards Define and develop a strategic mapping of medical conferences, for the indication in question, and lead Ipsen participation from the medical sideDefine the strategy and plan for external medical education, including and not limited to, (1) medical activities in the context of medical congresses - pre, during and post event, (2) independent medical education (IME) programs, (3) Ipsen driven medical education event/activitiesCoordinate the scientific engagement strategy and implementation Define cross-functional framework for development and implementation of a scientific engagement plan with key experts and medical societiesCoordinate, with internal stakeholders (global knowledge transfer, global publication, global medical information, and other relevant global and local functions), specific material and learning for local medical functions (including MSLs) that may include involvement of external medical expertsLead the strategic design and ensure end-to-end execution in the US, in collaboration with global functionsDefine and develop, in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders, a short, mid and long-term Medical Education and Scientific Engagement strategyParticipate in the design of the global integrated brand and medical plansSupport Ipsen sponsored scientific exchange meetings and symposiaCoordinate the insight generation activities (including advisory boards) across functions to ensure consistency and efficiency Drive and deliver impactful content to drive a holistic customer engagement experience that incorporates digital content creation and virtual channels. Serve as the point of contact for medical societies and IME support requestors (i.e. academic institutions, professional societies, medical education providers). Financial support cannot in any way prejudice IME provider's independence, or the professional autonomy and independence of the practitioners involved. Collaborate with other departments (e.g commercial/marketing, medical communication) in the creation and review of their external parties facing materialIdentify opportunities of processes optimization (in relation to the scope of work) and lead the change and implementationIn alignment with GMA, set up standards, metrics and dashboards to generate insights and drive excellence in medical education and scientific engagementEnsure close collaboration with Legal and Business Ethics to define ethical, effectiveness of scientific engagementsProvide program analytics to support internal communication regarding the impact of supported educational activities Set up tools to understand how the company approach to medical education and scientific engagement is perceived by medical experts, scientific societies and centers of excellence. Effectively manages the overall annual medical education budget; provide financial oversight through routine reviews with Finance and updates for Medical Affairs leadership. Qualifications EducationBachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferredDegree in Life Science preferredExperience7+ years substantial relevant experience of pharmaceutical industryDemonstrated experience in leading the development and execution of scientific communication and engagement strategies and plansDemonstrated experience leading and managing cross-functional projects with significant business impact Excellent understanding of industry guidance and best practicesExperience managing and developing relationships with vendorsExperience with developing, reporting, and tracking research and medical performance metrics and able to train/develop staff in these areasCore Competencies (Specific knowledge, skills and abilities that enable an individual to effectively perform the job)Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICH-GCP and FDA regulations.Proficient in the use of computer software systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Share Point, CTMS, EDC software, etc.)Ability to work independently.Good leadership skills and decision-making skills.Comfortable with presentation and reporting to senior leaders and external KOLs.Ability to work across multiple functions and cultures.Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.Excellent English communication skills: written and verbal.Strong organizational skills and ability to deal with competing priorities.Strong reasoning and creative solving skills.The statements contained herein reflect general details as necessary to describe the principles functions for this job, the level of knowledge and skill typically required, and the scope of responsibility, but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements.
