please.Position Overview:Solstice is an award-winning clean energy
company working to put affordable renewable energy in the hands of
every household, including low-income populations and communities
of color. The clean energy revolution is happening now; Solstice is
working to ensure this transition is equitable and widespread by
making it simpler and more affordable than ever for homeowners,
businesses, and even renters to go solar.With surging demand for
renewable energy, Solstice is poised for significant scale. In
light of this larger scale, Solstice is seeking a self-starting and
high-performing professional to lead our rapidly expanding business
development efforts. In this role, you will be Solstice's primary
liaison to prominent stakeholders in the energy industry, including
project developers, financiers, and utilities. You will be
responsible for securing, contracting, and managing new
partnerships, and in doing so, forging new revenue opportunities
for the company. You'll work closely with the co-founders and the
executive team to ensure our business strategy is delivering value
to our industry partners, and you'll be responsible for pioneering
expansion efforts across new geographies. You will manage the
business development team which is responsible for managing
developer relationships and our ongoing projects. The role will
report to the COO.The ideal candidate is familiar with the solar
industry already, with either previous solar project development or
energy policy experience, or an equivalent work history. They love
sales and closing deals, are extremely detail-oriented and value
building long-term relationships with customers, and are passionate
about Solstice's mission of expanding clean energy access.About
Solstice: Climate change mitigation requires massive clean energy
expansion, yet 77 percent of American households cannot install
rooftop solar power due to rented housing, the structure of their
rooftop, the upfront cost, or access to financing. Solstice
connects households and community organizations to "community
solar"-shared solar farms that are installed in a centralized
location where local residents can enroll in a portion for free,
without any home installations, and enjoy guaranteed savings on
their monthly utility bill.One of the only companies in the solar
industry co-founded and led by women of color, Solstice has
generated demand for nearly 130MW of clean energy across 32
community renewable projects in multiple states, with the total
clean energy capacity from enrolled households, small businesses,
and nonprofits representing the environmental equivalent of not
burning 48 million pounds of coal. In addition, Solstice's software
manages the end-to-end customer experience for the life of the
20-year renewable energy project on behalf of developers and
financiers, from customer enrollment to billing/crediting to
ongoing customer engagement.Responsibilities will include:
- Serve as Solstice's primary liaison to prominent energy
industry stakeholders, including solar developers, financiers,
energy retailers, and trade organizations
- Spearhead outreach to solar project developers and utilities
with an objective of identifying and winning significant new
business opportunities for Solstice
- Manage solar developer partnerships, serving as main point of
contact, conveying information on active campaigns, and building
and strengthening partnerships over time
- Seek out collaborative partnerships with key industry players
such as marketing organizations that can serve as resources on
market trends or as partners
- Participate in community solar policy advocacy, particularly in
new states starting to develop policies
- Serve as the key voice to the rest of the organization on
upcoming policy or industry trends that could help/hinder the
business
- Develop a thorough understanding of various state-specific
financial incentives and compensation mechanisms in order to inform
pricing strategy
- Key interlocutor between all Solstice departments (e.g.
software, sales, marketing, operations, and LMI inclusion) to
identify new features for development based on solar developer and
utility needs
- Manage business development staff of 2+ personnel
- Develop new revenue opportunities for the company by expanding
geographic reach, partnerships, or product offerings
- Represent Solstice at energy/solar industry conferences and
eventsRequirementsQualifications:
- 5-10+ years of experience in business development, sales,
revenue, financial services, or other related business field
- At least 2 years experience in solar or adjacent energy
industries
- 2+ years of direct people management experience
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with an
ability to articulate value propositions to external stakeholders
with passion and energy; proven record of successfully selling new
brands/products/ideas
- Outstanding project management skills; demonstrated ability to
work on multiple work streams by implementing efficient
structures/processes and following through
- Track record of effectively managing multiple stakeholder and
partner accounts
- Ability to assess regulatory/policy landscapes of various
geographies, or an active interest to build this expertise
- Excitement to be a leader with significant executive
responsibility in a fast-paced startup environment
- Extraordinary attention to detail, proactive self-starter,
creative, personable, enthusiastic, team-oriented
- Possess traits of grit/resilience and an interest in continuous
learning and improvement
- Strong interest in environmentalism, clean energy, and/or
social equity
- Proficient in MS Office suite, particularly PowerPoint, Excel,
