AFFOA is dedicated to accelerating the pace of innovation in advanced textiles through R&D, transitioning and integrating fiber and fabric technologies into products with dual-use applications. The Institute is uniquely positioned to establish and build supply chains to rapidly prototype for DoD and commercial needs and focuses on preparing and building the workforce of the future that can support these new manufacturing needs. AFFOA partners with its member companies including startups, universities, manufacturers, commercial industry, and defense partners to bring advanced fiber technologies to market. Position Overview AFFOA is seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager to manage and execute the institute's marketing, membership, and communication strategies. The ideal candidate will be flexible, highly detail-oriented, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This position requires the ability to work with minimal direction, the capacity to move quickly and be flexible while delivering high-quality results. The successful candidate will have experience working with a variety of marketing systems, social media, creating compelling external facing communications, event management, and working with a variety of programs. Additionally, the candidate should have a go-getter attitude that can take initiative and work with minimal direction when needed. As a part of an integrated team, the role will report to VP New Business Development & Partnerships, and work closely with external partners, finance, business development, program management, product and technical staff. Significant collaboration within AFFOA and members of its ecosystem will be required. This position is located at AFFOA headquarters in Cambridge with some work from home opportunities. Some travel may be required. Job Duties Marketing & Communications:

• Develop a marketing and communication plan and strategy to increase institute awareness and drive business development (newsletters, technical success story development & dissemination, social media, email marketing, industry articles, press releases, etc.)
• Manage company website, updating content to drive awareness engagement from potential sponsors and new members
• Manage membership portal, developing content and strategies to drive engagement and value for the ecosystem
• Leverage Google and other digital analytics tools to optimize website and portal design and usage
• Manage Salesforce CRM, optimizing usage and reporting for membership and engagement metrics.
• Develop online, print and video marketing materials
• Develop written success stories, press releases, etc. that will amplify Institute activities across platforms and channels
• Plan and support Institute speaking and exhibiting opportunities at conferences and events
• Collaborate with other Manufacturing Innovation Institutes in cross-institute communication activities and campaigns Member Engagement
  • Develop strategy and drive member engagement through planning and execution of strategic touchpoints and activities (Events, webinars, member portal, website)
  • Serve as a point of contact for the institute's 130+ membership and help manage onboarding, tracking and renewals
  • Lead communication and outreach for Institute Project Calls and other member-based activities
  • Develop & report on marketing and membership KPIs for the institute
  • Support development and aggregation of content for DoD reporting (weekly, quarterly and yearly reports)
  • Additional duties as assigned Qualifications
    • 5 or more years of marketing/communications experience
    • Experience managing marketing & communication projects and campaigns, including social media management, email marketing management, growth marketing or demand generation in a fast-paced organization, preferably in SaaS/software
    • Solid understanding of event-based marketing (EBM), B2B account-based marketing and their strategies including relationship management, marketing automation and campaign-driven marketing approaches
    • Strong written and oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to present ideas and results effectively to stakeholders and senior leadership, as well as effective external communication
    • Experience with Wordpress, Mailchimp, Salesforce
    • Willingness to learn new processes and digital platforms and systems in a growing and changing environment
    • Ability to manage a wide range of tasks/conflicting priorities, and balance/reprioritize as necessary to deliver high-quality work on schedule and budget
    • Must have a positive can-do attitude, be a team player and self-starter who is always eager to improve things.
    • Experience with Survey Monkey and Google Analytics, Photoshop preferred
    • Bachelor's Degree in a Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred Work Authorization : Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
