I further attest that all information I submit in my employment application is true to the best of my knowledge.Job DescriptionYou will guide the discovery of novel therapeutics within the Rare Diseases Drug Discovery Unit (RD DDU), focusing on rare hematological disorders (non-oncology). This scientist will lead matrixed teams, advise multiple programs as a scientific expert, and independently design preclinical research projects as a means to build our vision to transform the lives of individuals burdened with disease.ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Play a scientific role on project team(s), setting carefulness of thought
  • Provide scientific contributions which have impact on portfolio progress or development of technical capabilities, based on benchmarking to industry excellence
  • Be an internal essential opinion leader for your area of technical expertise
  • Support or identifies BD opportunities to enhance project progression, or functional capability expansion, with clear application to specific portfolio needs
  • Develop scientific expertise through external interactions, linked to specific deliverables
  • Contribute to development of scientific strategy, through tangible deliverables; challenge dogmas and internal 'blind spots'; pressure-tests ideas through external network
  • Establish a external reputation, through scientific publication and presentationEDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS - You will have passion for early drug discovery, along with the following attributes:
    • PhD / MS / BA degree with 10+ / 14+ / 16+ years of experience in a biopharmaceutical R&D, health-related consulting company, or academic role focusing on preclinical research.
    • A background in rare hematological disorders, with broad experience in small molecule, biologics, and gene therapies.
    • An understanding of biological mechanisms that improve thrombosis and hemostasis, and preclinical models for studying these pathways
    • Experience delivering novel therapeutics from idea to early clinical development.
    • Demonstrate the capability to inspire and motivate others and build authentic relationships
    • Demonstrate desire to participate in teams in a matrix organizational structure.
    • An in-depth understanding of clinical needs as it relates to guiding early programs towards successful translation to therapeutics to provide meaningful benefit to patients
    • Manage across multiple projects.
    • Contribute specific experimental designs and test conditions based on knowledge gained through prior experience and review of relevant technical literature.
    • Manage research vendors including negotiating sponsored research agreements/contracts, analyzing scope of work, facilitating the resolution of actions and issues.Effective November 1, 2021, absent an approved religious or medical reason, all US office-based and lab-based Takeda employees who work fully on-site or in a hybrid model (as determined by Takeda) must be fully vaccinated to work at a Takeda site or to engage with Takeda colleagues or anyone else on behalf of Takeda.
