The Director of Sales is responsible for leading the charge for our revenue teams in Canada. The Canadian market is a key focus area for the strategic international growth objectives for CarGurus. This person will be a strong coach, leading a 30-person team focused on new logo acquisition and growing our revenue footprint with existing customers. The Director will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the group and developing tactics to ensure efficient and effective implementation. The successful candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced sales environment with relatively short sales cycles and expectations for growth. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual that wants to take high-performing sales teams and develop them it into a more mature, sophisticated sales operation.What You'll Do: Manage a team of 30 inside sales reps and 2 managers.Work cross-functionally with other departments to communicate the needs of our customers and product requirementsManage through metrics: both for reporting business results and directing coaching and training effortsDrive the creation of the strategic annual sales planImplement optimal organization, process, and tactics to maximize close rates and revenue from each salesperson's book of businessEffectively communicates, formally and informally, up and down the organizationEffectively and efficiently handles all aspects of sales management administration (forecasting, territory reviews, etc.)Comfort with rolling out and reinforcing both sales process and sales methodology across the teamAdminister a repeatable daily/weekly/monthly management and selling cadenceExceptional in understanding how to motivate an inside sales team and achieve a consistent level of intensity and focus, each dayFocus on the ongoing career development of direct reports to help get them ready for larger challenges and future responsibilitiesSuccessfully hiring, on-boarding, and coaching new team membersWho You Are:BA/BS and/or Graduate degreeAmbitious sales leader committed to the success of his/her team4+ years of managing inside sales teams (20+ people, 2+ managers)Track record of success and achievement in Sales and other pursuitsExperience selling software-as-a-service or other internet/technology subscriptions a strong plusEffective user of technology tools, including CRM, to improve sales performanceCarGurus Culture:Research shows that while men apply to jobs when they meet an average of 60% of the criteria, women and other marginalized folks tend to only apply when they check every box.
