Mount Auburn Hospital is looking for a Director of Midwifery to lead one of the largest and most cohesive midwifery groups in Massachusetts. Mount Auburn Hospital is a teaching and community hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School, dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare with dignity and compassion to a diverse patient population. As with all leadership positions within our institution, the Midwifery Director role includes a component of inpatient and outpatient clinical care. The Midwifery Director will be expected to serve as a role model for interdisciplinary teamwork and compassionate communication, as well as advocate for patient-centered, evidence-based care. In accordance with the vision and mission of the division, department, and the organization, the Director will strive to continually improve quality and service to patients. About the Department of OB/GYN at Mount Auburn Hospital:

  • 2 midwives on call per shift
  • An average delivery volume of 2300 per year
  • In FY20, midwifery patients made up 45% of the total obstetric volume.
  • Mount Auburn has an institutional commitment to TOLAC and has a 75% VBAC success rate this year
  • The primary C/S rate this year is 13.98%
  • The hospital supports waterbirth and the use of nitrous oxide.
  • Midwifery representation at departmental and institutional committees is valued and encouraged
  • The Midwives at Mount Auburn serve patients at 8 office locations, including 2 University Health Centers and 2 Community Health Centers.
  • Serving successive generations of families in the community. Desired qualifications:
    • Certification in nurse-midwifery from the American Midwifery Certification Board.
    • Eligible for Massachusetts nurse-midwifery license
    • Master of Science in Nursing, Doctorate of Nursing Practice, or similar Master or Doctorate in a related field
    • At least 5 years of clinical midwifery experience
