Summary
Reporting to the SVP of Corporate & Business Development, this individual lead Search & Evaluation/ External Innovation and is responsible for leading the search, assessment and transactions for R&D and commercial opportunities, in alignment with the vaccine and oncology therapeutic areas. This individual will lead the identification and partnering activities needed to maintain and expand the company's competitive portfolio.
Client Details
Our client is a clinical-staged biotechnology which develops drugs and therapies including across oncology, vaccines, biologics, and rare disease. Due to demand, the business has expanded exponentially with a head count already of over 700 employees globally and 100 based in the Boston/Cambridge area.
Description
Search and Evaluation: The individual will lead global external search and evaluation for the Vaccine and Oncology TA. The scope of search is throughout the product life-cycle. Evaluation activity focuses on assets or technologies that will enter the Vaccine or Oncology R&D portfolio and includes execution of CDAs and in-depth technical assessment with R&D and other appropriate stakeholders prior to the formal decision to initiate Due Diligence.
Active deal projects: The individual will (i) identify and propose attractive deal opportunities, (ii) ensure high quality project leadership and management from project initiation to TA-focused internal governance, and to final transaction for early stage projects and technologies (iii) manage the overall interface to corporate level governance (iv) align resources and decision making throughout the deal process in collaboration with transactions colleagues and (v) provide input/guidance to optimal scientific deal structures and inflection points, minimizing contractual risk.
Profile
PhD or MD degrees in Vaccines or Oncology
Extensive scientific experience, preferably obtained through > 7 year experience in multiple functions in the pharmaceutical industry. Outstanding scientific excellence in infectious disease or cancer biology, discovery and early development a strong plus.
Evidence of organizational and project management skills.
Must have in-depth knowledge in Vaccines or Oncology discovery and development
Ideally, should have multi-year successful track record in external R&D, partnering and/or business development. Excellent track record of identifying, implementing, and managing novel partnering opportunities.
