Director of Talent Acquisition and Development Faculty of Arts and Sciences 53354BR Job Summary Lead talent acquisition services for a school or department. Oversee all activities including recruitment, advising, reporting and marketing to support staffing needs. Job-Specific ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Associate Dean for Human Resources, the Director of Talent Acquisition and Development is expected to make high-impact and strategic contributions to Faculty of Arts & Science (FAS) by enhancing FAS's ability to attract and recruit talent and to promote internal mobility. This includes proactive candidate sourcing to create a readily available and diverse applicant pool; a well-managed interview process; an effective and efficient selection process; and support for managers in making sound hiring decisions and successful offers. Director of Talent Acquisition and Development will also lead efforts to build a diverse talent pipeline for FAS leadership positions through diversity related HR program initiatives. In addition: will represent FAS and provide leadership for centrally initiated directives for recruiting university-wide; and will collaborate with leadership on matters related to diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Ensuring compliance with EEO/AAP regulations is a high priority for this position.

  • Lead efforts to develop effective sourcing strategies that identify top-tier talent pools for FAS requisitions to ensure timely, high quality hires; about 500 people hired each year.
  • Communicate and document processes across FAS. Develop and implement communications strategies related to compliance, diversity hiring, and recruiting best practices that includes attending committee meetings, facilitating relevant workshops, creating collateral tools and resources, and maintaining an FAS Hiring Toolkit for Managers.
  • Partner with FAS hiring managers, Department Administrators, and HR Consultants to facilitate the recruiting process and to implement best practices and processes that create a meaningful candidate experience.
  • Provide overall relationship management for staffing vendors such as agencies and executive search firms. Oversee and influence the contracting process to ensure consistency, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement optimal recruiting strategies across divisions.
  • Will maintain a recruitment portfolio, including possible executive searches.
    • Oversee a staff of six.
    • Develop evaluation tools and key metrics to measure the overall effectiveness in recruiting efforts to support important decisions.
    • As the FAS representative, play a leadership role in collaborating with university-wide employment-related initiatives.Diversity and Compliance:
      • Oversee and operationalize diversity initiatives that support affirmative action hiring goals and other projects related to creating and maintaining an inclusive work environment.
      • Responsible for OFCCP and EEO compliance in FAS recruitment and hiring-related practices.
      • Ensure all positions are properly posted according to policy.
      • Maintain accurate and up-to-date Applicant tracking system.
      • Contribute to FAS faculty, student and staff safety by ensuring that proper background and reference checks are completed in accordance with university policy and relevant legal statutes.
      • Track and analyze the hiring processes used within the various units across FAS to set goals and measure compliance and effectiveness of current practices.Talent Development:
        • Provide leadership, direction, and programming expertise to enhance diversity, inclusion, and belonging; career development; and internal mobility.
        • Build strategic partnerships and collaborate with other FAS HR and University colleagues to support related programs.
        • Proactively identify internal FAS talent for open and future positions. Typical Core Duties
          • Responsible for effective staff management for a group or team of employees, including hiring and orientation, training and development, workflow and performance management, and the promotion of an inclusive and innovative work environment
          • Design, develop and monitor effective recruiting processes and practices; develop and implement cost effective solutions that enhance service quality
          • Oversee and implement sourcing strategies that identify top tier talent in an effort to ensure timely hires; lead executive searches and manage long-term candidate networking relationships
          • Advise hiring managers in initiating, implementing, and evaluating recruiting practices and processes
          • Lead the analysis of recruiting data to identify and address gaps and to leverage opportunities
          • Lead diversity and community outreach initiatives; responsible for developing diversity recruitment strategy and for EEO and affirmative action compliance and reporting
          • Design, develop and monitor an effective advertising and marketing strategy for attracting talent including social media recruitment
          • May partner with Central Recruitment Services in areas such as vendor relations, recruitment compliance, systems (ASPIRE) support, university-wide initiatives, etc.
          • Adhere to OFCCP and AA/EEO regulations and established Harvard policies and procedures for compliant recruiting; work with hiring managers to build a diverse, representative workforce Basic Qualifications
            • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
            • Minimum of 8 years' relevant work experience
            • Supervisory experience Additional Qualifications and Skills
              • A passion for, and competence in, creating a diverse and inclusive workplace
              • Knowledge of EEO/AAP reporting and requirements
              • Proven experience building, managing, and measuring an internal search and sourcing capability
              • Ability to provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment--
              • Ability to consult effectively in a decentralized environment and develop productive partnerships across FAS and the University
              • Ability to create effective and efficient workflow using available technologies, tools and resources
              • Presentation and facilitation skills, highly desirable
              • Ability to contribute to career development programs and facilitating workshops
              • Working knowledge of social media recruitment tools
              • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
