Mechanical Engineering (ME) Organization leads the mechanical
hardware design, development and production support of a wide
breadth of air, land, sea, and space systems. The ME team strives
to be the premier organization for mechanical design and

place. ME’s capabilities encompass a broad range of technical
disciplines which include engineering, technical services,
materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation. Within the
ME Organization, the Undersea, Sensors & Structures (USS)
Department leads the mechanical design, development, and
integration of a set of products, including but not limited to
undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms,
shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and
launchers. The USS department is looking for a full-time Mechanical
Engineer II, located in Portsmouth, RI. What You Will Do: Perform
mechanical design, development, and documentation of components,
sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in
accordance with system requirements. Collaborate across multiple
disciplines/functions (i.e. structural/thermal analyses and
electrical engineering) to solve complex technical challenges in a
fast-paced, team environment. Validate design fit and functionality
by rapid prototyping and/or simulation Support the factory and
suppliers with product integration Participate in design peer
reviews, resolving action items, and conduct trade studies to make
sound technical decisions. Occasional CONUS travel to customer
sites or suppliers is generally required. International and longer
duration travel assignments are available but optional
Qualifications You Must Have: Typically requires a Bachelor's
Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience. An advanced
degree in a related field may be substituted. Minimum of 2 years of
experience in mechanical design, documentation and fabrication. The
ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security
clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S.
citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We
Prefer: Experience in the specification, design, development,
production and testing of undersea systems and electronics
packaging. Knowledge of design for long term submergence, sealing,
and corrosion resistance. Experience on DoD programs. Experience
with PTC CREO and PDM. Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T
experience. Experience managing financial and schedule performance
of mechanical tasking. Working knowledge of Military and Commercial
Specifications. Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems
while working as part of a team Strong written and verbal
communication skills. Experience with configuration management
systems. Experience with 3-D modeling software Experience with
creating engineering drawings/prints Experience with metal
fabrication and/or assembly joining techniques (fasteners, rivets,

role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a
good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX
