The Delivery and Device Connected Solutions Innovation team in Cambridge explores and applies new technical solutions across delivery systems, with focus in the following areas:

  • Mechanical and electromechanical systems
  • Electronic communication and firmware
  • Software and connected delivery solutions
  • Drug delivery of new therapeutic modalities We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and creative engineering professional to join our team to solve sophisticated challenges and in the process invent, explore, and develop new and emerging technologies. If you wish to apply your deep engineering knowledge to push technical frontiers and use Design Thinking methods to build breakthrough solutions for patients, you should consider joining our diverse team. They must be an effective collaborator with many different constituents including local team members and partner organizations, Lilly colleagues in Indianapolis, external partners (including premier design firms), and industry and academic leaders. Responsibilities:
    • Design, evaluate, and develop mechanical and electromechanical systems for drug delivery
    • Understand, inform, and support the drug delivery and device platform strategy; how the strategy is informed by internal (molecule/ pipeline needs), external needs (patient, market, and technology trends) and how it ultimately drives improved patient outcomes
    • Identify and monitor ground-breaking delivery and device technologies as well as trends in patient centered disease management (i.e., diabetes connected product systems and patient support systems)
    • Establish and maximize strategic relationships with academia and start-ups to accelerate and access emerging innovation
    • Work with external partners to design and prototype early concepts to support the delivery strategy
    • Connect across organization to inform areas of development
    • Understand IP, freedom to operate, and competitive landscape in targeted areas of research
    • Coach and mentor junior engineers and scientists Basic Qualifications:
      • PhD (7+ years' experience), MS (10+ years' experience), BS (12+ years' experience) (Mechanical, Biomedical, or Electrical Engineering preferred)
      • 7+ years of medical device design and/or project management experience
      • 5+ years of experience leading multi-disciplinary design and development project teams in a regulated environment
      • Proficiency using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD packages
      • Extensive experience with prototype manufacturing, component manufacturing/assembly, and design for manufacturability techniques Additional Skills/Preferences:
        • Desire and ability to coach/mentor early career engineering talent
        • Strong communication skills and the ability to be an inclusive leader/colleague in a highly interdisciplinary environment
        • Experience with electromechanical design, electrical power management and/or electromagnetics
        • Demonstrated analytical skills including statistics, DOE, experimental design, or Six Sigma
        • Effective technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills
