Job Description:
Your new role: -Are you passionate about the importance of
reproducibility in science? -Are you interested in developing a
product that helps researchers in their daily experiments?We are
looking for a Lead Editor for STAR Protocols, the Cell Press open
access journal publishing protocols across a variety of scientific
disciplines. We are looking for an experienced and creative editor
who shares our passion for making it easy for scientists to publish
their work. This job offers an opportunity to iterate and expand on
the success of STAR Protocols and has a unique blend of editorial
responsibilities and agile product development.Key responsibilities
will include:
- Building effective working relationships with colleagues across
Cell Press and beyond
- Representing -STAR Protocols -and Cell Press at scientific
meetings
- Leading networking and outreach in the scientific
community
- Managing the hiring and training of editorial team members
- Developing and maintaining robust content acquisition
strategy
- Working with developers, UX, marketing, and content teams to
iterate and improve the STAR Protocols user experience across user
types (author, reviewer, reader)
- Participate in customer discovery activities with the product
team (surveys, feedback reviews, AB testing)
- Drive the development and execution of the product strategy
road map by balancing business requirements with results of user
testing and data and analytics.What you should bring:
- Broad scientific interests and a passion for helping scientists
publish their work.
- A good understanding of digital communication, publishing
trends, and the opportunities that technology provides to improve
scientific publishing.
- Experience in editorial selection of research to match
editorial standards, preferably as a full-time professional
editor.
- Enthusiasm for working with people. - Collaboration and
networking are core aspects of the job.
- A dynamic, - data-driven approach to goals and objectives.
- Creativity, willingness to experiment, and desire to
improve.
- Strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize,
focus, and achieve desired goals. Be effective in balancing complex
conflicting priorities
- Great interpersonal skills. Collaboration and networking are
core aspects of the job.
- Experience working with stakeholders in a business environment,
working across cross-functional groups
- A PhD or other relevant doctoral degree.
- Managerial experience is desirable but not required.
- Interest in product development and agile methodology is a
