Responsibilities
The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for partnering with Systems and Design Engineers to understand and translate product requirements into supplier requirements and ensure that they are implemented into delivered product.
As part of a larger, cross functional team, the Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will interact with engineers from Systems, Design and Production Engineering to develop critical characteristics that will be incorporated into subsequent product documentation that will be used as part of supplier selection and qualification. This individual will have the lead responsibility in the qualification of suppliers for designated programs based on Draper's Quality Management System (QMS) and Customer requirements.

Specific Responsibilities Include:


  • Identify and qualify suppliers based on Draper QMS and program requirements
  • Perform supplier evaluation and process audits
  • Provide supplier quality input into strategic purchasing decisions
  • Develop and monitor supplier performance metrics and initiate improvement plans when appropriate
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) and/or Source Inspection as required
  • Provide support and assistance to suppliers in development and execution of corrective actions, with strong focus on preventing reoccurrence
  • Support the administration and management of Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs), from creation to closure, including verification of corrective actions
  • Support the administration and management of an Approved Supplier List (ASL)
  • Utilize analytical skill sets to implement root cause analysis and provide recommendations for corrective action.
  • Lead and participate in supplier and in house improvement events
  • Drive Supplier Quality Management compliance in accordance with Draper's Quality Management System (QMS) as well as ISO9001-2015 and AS9100
  • Ensure new and existing suppliers understand and meet our needs for First Article Inspection (FAI) parts, traceability, conformance, etc.
  • Participate and contribute in Material Review Board reviews
  • Support onsite Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRA) as needed

    Qualifications
    Required Qualifications: -

    • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality Engineering in a Product Development environment
    • Experience with quality management systems and ISO 9001-2015 and/or AS9100 standards
    • Ability to work on cross functional teams
    • Strong foundational knowledge of electronics and electronic component technology
    • Understanding of Life Cycle Management
    • Proficiency in Quality, Systems, and/or Manufacturing Engineering disciplines and requirements
    • Good interpersonal skills to communicate clearly with the internal team and customer
    • Must possess strong organizational skills
    • Experience with Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL) and Assessments (MRA) is desired
    • Excellent written and oral communication, in English -


      Travel
      Up to 25% travel within the United States

      • Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. -
      • Secret Clearance required
