Job Description:
Job Description The company is made up of two divisions: The
first is a highly specialized advisory practice that serves
leading, and often high profile, companies, and families globally.
They assist families, ownership groups and business leaders to
build shareholder value and high-performing enterprises; develop
leaders, shareholders, and productive family members; strengthen
family relationships; and successfully pass their enterprise to the
next generation. The second is an education and research institute
on the forefront of insightful knowledge to unlock complex
questions that family enterprises face. They offer education
programs, workshops, and conferences, conduct research on critical
issues, and publish thought pieces on multigenerational success.
Position Overview The Controller is responsible for all accounting
functions and financial reporting within the firm. In this role the
Controller supervises a full-time Accounting Manager and oversees
all accounting systems, processes, and procedures, and manages the
financial aspects of all client engagements. The Controller is also
responsible for all financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting
functions. The role reports to the Chief Administrative Officer,
CEO, and Partners of the firm. Responsibilities The Controller is
responsible for oversight, management, and execution of the
following: --- Provide accounting and financial leadership ---
Manage day to day accounting operations, including general and
project accounting --- Direct all finance and accounting functions,
including cash management and forecasting, financial reporting,
operational forecasting and budgeting, and auditing --- Provide
partners, CEO, and CAO with cogent reports and analysis that enable
quality decision- making --- Oversee preparation of daily, weekly,
monthly, and annual financial reports, financial statements, and
prepare annual budget --- Oversee daily cash flow and reports,
review revenue reports --- Develop timely operating forecasts ---
Establish appropriate cost control policies and manage costs
appropriately --- Analyze and interpret financial reports and
recommend appropriate actions --- Ensure the integrity and
timeliness of the company---s financial information and systems ---
Manage relationships with banks and accounting firm --- Ensure
compliance with tax and regulatory filings Required Skills
Independent, proactive professional. Comfortable working in a
small, international firm as a team player and regard
confidentiality as critical. In this detail-oriented role, you will
be expected to provide strong accounting and financial leadership.
Required Education and Experience --- Bachelor---s degree in
Accounting --- At least seven (7) years of experience in both
accounting and corporate environment --- Experience with a
professional services consulting firm and with international
divisions or subsidiaries preferred --- Experience with
partnerships and LLC structures a plus --- CPA or Master's degree a
plus --- Current in all aspects of finance and accounting standards
and compliance, familiarity with project accounting required ---
Familiarity with project accounting systems, experience with
Intacct (Sage) and Concur a plus --- Advanced Excel skills
including pivot tables and data analysis --- Ability to operate
effectively in a fast-changing environment across multiple offices
and favorably adapt to fluctuating deadlines and changes --- Strong
problem-solving ability with proven leadership experience to
motivate and develop internal accounting staff --- Detail and
deadline-oriented self-starter --- Excellent analytical, oral,
interpersonal, presentation, and written communications skills ---
Ability to demonstrate solid professional values and ability to
work effectively with minimal supervision --- Initiative driven
with the flexibility to accommodate changes --- Mature,
professional, and polished demeanor --- Must be able to clearly
understand and follow confidentiality protocols Job Location
Currently remote work environment with occasional workdays in the
offices in Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA. Days and Hours Full-time;
available when needed, including after normal business hours to
meet some deadlines and for occasional telephone calls. Company
