Senior Admissions and Financial Aid Officer Faculty of Arts and Sciences 56730BR Job-Specific Responsibilities Duties: GSAS, Natural Sciences area. Works with all aspects of the financial aid process, including admissions, recruiting, analyzing financial aid, registration clearance. Counsels A.M. and Ph.D. candidates concerning the application process, fellowship sources, loans and jobs. Manages the financial aid budgets for approximately half of the 16 Natural Sciences departments and committees. Prepares aid packages and award letters, assigns restricted funds and gifts and administers a number of Harvard and outside grant and fellowship programs. Prepares information for annual university and outside agency reports. Communicates directly with departments and related University administrative offices. Provides annual updates for office publications. Represents GSAS at national and state level professional conferences and university wide financial forums. Reports to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid and Senior Admissions Officer in the Natural Sciences.-- - Typical Core Duties

  • Evaluate and analyze financial information submitted by applicants, ensuring data is accurate and compliant, and process awards
  • Conduct needs analysis and prepare financial aid awards for students, review appeals for applicants requesting additional financial assistance
  • Counsel prospective and current students, and families, on financial planning and financial assistance
  • Responsible for event preparation and presentations such as entrance and exit counseling sessions, budgeting and debt workshops, admissions open houses, student orientation
  • Prepare analysis and projection of financial aid funds
  • Collaborate on the development and editing of publications, financial aid forms, general student correspondence, website content
  • Interpret and administer admissions and financial aid policies for applicants and staff
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and institutional financial aid requirements and auditing standards Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
    • Minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience Additional Qualifications and Skills
      • Familiarity with financial aid preferred;
      • Computer skills, finance and budget administration required;
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
      • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to handle numerous projects with meticulous attention to detail;
      • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently;
