As a Risk Senior Manager working on the GIRM(Global insurance and Risk Management) team, you will be empowered to provide global and local insurance support to Takeda companies world-wide. In this role, you will contribute to Takeda's mission by for placing insurance programs locally (independent of the global programs) and manage loss control and claims handling for these programs. A typical day will include: POSITION OBJECTIVES:

  • Global Insurance & Risk Management (GIRM) is a central business partner at Corporate level, providing global and local insurance support to Takeda companies world-wide.
  • With team members located in Japan, US and Europe, GIRM is part of Takeda's Global Finance function and has responsibility for placing all global insurance programs.
  • The US based representation of the GIRM team has additional responsibility for placing insurance programs locally (independent of the global programs) and for managing loss control and claims handling for these. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
    • Contribute to the development of a high functioning Global Insurance & Risk Management department, with a particular emphasis on supporting the Business with its local US Insurance and Risk Management requirements
    • Assume both lead and participatory responsibility for Global and Local Insurance programs:
    • Lead role in the renewal of local US insurance policies (in global programs)
    • Lead for all US specific programs; maintaining oversight of the collection and review of underwriting information leading to submissions and involvement in often complex negotiations with Takeda's Insurance Broker and the Insurance Market
    • Responsible for reviewing all local insurance policies for accuracy, recommending appropriate loss retention levels and negotiating insurance cover, provisions and premiums in the local insurance markets.
    • Overall management of the Global fronted General Liability & Clinical Trials Liability Insurance program; involving the Clinical Trials Certificate of Insurance Process
    • Support the business and local management on contractual risk reviews and determine appropriate types and level of insurance
    • Seek to identify, develop and maintain sound insurance reporting procedures and systems; employing effective data collection and analysis strategies
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the US Insurance community to ensure Takeda's local risk management policies and Insurance programs reflect ongoing developments and changes in the US environment
    • Provide local and global claims management handling/support:
    • Evaluation of large exposure claims
    • Liaison with Takeda Legal Counsel on claims management procedure and litigated claim strategy
    • Communication with site stakeholders and carrier claims teams
    • Invoice and settlement payment reconciliation
    • Preparation of open claims reports across multiple lines of business
    • Claims audit and review activities EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
      • Minimum 5 years of experience, working in a similar role or background in the insurance/broking environment, with an excellent understanding of business insurance lines
      • Experience of working on global insurance programs, across multiple lines of business in international working environments
      • MBA, CPCU or ARM or other IIA course work
      • Robust understanding of financial concepts and analytical methodology
      • Skilled in Risk Management, with a sound understanding of Insurance and Risk Mitigation concepts
      • Solid verbal and written communication and negotiation capabilities, comfortable communication with internal and external stakeholders of all levels of seniority
      • Strong negotiation techniques and ability to explore positions and alternatives in order to reach outcomes that gain acceptance for all involved parties
      • Excellent team player - able to collaborate effectively and seamlessly within GIRM and cross-functional teams with internal and external partners
      • Sound analytical skills and ability to utilize data to inform the Business and reach informed decisions and watertight solutions
      • Meticulous attention to detail, with proven ability to create high quality presentation material and maintain accurate, detailed records
      • Risk Management - understands the concepts of insurance and risk mitigation
      • Desired: Industry Knowledge -understanding of the pharmaceutical industry would be an asset LOCATION
