Senior Finance Business Partner - Global Medical Affairs
-Specialty Care Cambridge, MA POSITION OVERVIEW This position
supports the Medical Affairs organization of Sanofi-Genzyme, with a
focus on t he Medical Operations and Effectiveness team , Global
Medical Information team, Medical Managed Care group and supporting
the consolidation and reporting of the Medical function across all
of the regions . The position reports to the Head of Finance for
Sanofi Genzyme Medical Af fairs and is based in Cambridge, MA. The
position is responsible for providing financial support to the s
enior m anagement of the Medical Operations and Effectiveness team
, Global Medical Information team, and the Medical Managed Care
group while successfully monitoring key financial processes for the
supported areas. Primary responsibilities include: Budgeting and
forecasting M onth end close account ing and reporting requirements
Business p artnership, o perating expe nses controlling and c
ompliance F inanc ial support for ad-hoc projects The ideal
candidate is expected to provide valuable insight and
recommendation to his/her business partners to reach financial
targets , while being an active member of the Sanofi - Genzyme
Medical Affairs finance team.-- Budgeting and Forecasting
Responsible for working in close relationship with the Medical
Operations and Effectiveness team , Global Medical Information
team, and the Medical Managed Care group in the development of
expense budgets for the annual operating budget, forecasts and long
range plan. Forecast s ubmission including h eadcount and program
related expenses-- Communicate and distribute financial forecast to
business partners Variance analysis and commentary-- Validating
data, submission in f inance systems, generating reports and
creating PowerPoint management presentations Provide b usiness p
artners with clear explanation on drivers of their revised plan
enabling them to be prepared for presentations to ELT Global
responsibility, requiring close collaboration and alignment with
the Global and regional teams located in the US, Europe and Japac
Month End Close Accounting and Reporting Responsible for performing
key month-end close accounting activities and reporting
requirements in relation with the Medical Affairs finance team
(running some of the closing activities across all perimeters) and
in compliance with all applicable accounting standards, statutory
requirements and corporate reporting requirements and timelines.--
Booking and v alidation of journal entries Month-end commentary and
reporting package for the Sanofi finance team Monthly analysis and
comment ary for b usiness p artners Business Partnership, Operating
Expense Controlling and Compliance Be the trusted finance
interlocutor of the heads of Medical Operations and Effectiveness
team , Global Medical Information team, and the Medical Managed
Care group and their s enior m anagement teams. O wn communication
around month end close calendar, deadlines and deliverables Conduct
financial reviews of budgets and spending to identify, assess and
investigate budget variances, presenting and commenting on
financial performance, staffing and other key finan cial metrics on
a regular basis R esponsible for managing the day to day m edical o
perations expenses, including review and a pproval of p urchase o
rders of project related initiatives and outsourced services
according to Sanofi g overnance and c ompliance processes Financial
support for ad-hoc Project Provide technical and analytic al
support for numerous projects and ana lyses to support achievement
of Sanofi Genzyme Medical Affairs financial goals and business
objectives, including contribution s to different work streams
aiming at OPEX optimiz ation and reporting solutions.-- System
support, consolidation and reporting-- Assist the Medical Affairs
Finance team in the critical steps of g lobal reporting and c
onsolidation, in coordination with the FP&A finance team of
Sanofi Genzyme for all major finance exercises (actuals variance
analysis, Forecast, budget and long r an ge planning) Using excel
and internal financial systems ( Shift (SAP) , Boost, Essbase,
Qlikview ) to develop basic and more advanced models to assist in
financial analysis Interpreting financial information from
countries and regions Supporting the development of power point
presentation to enhance management reports Provide technical and
analytical support for numerous projects and analyses to support
achievement of Sanofi Genzyme Medical Affairs financial goals and
business objectives . Requirements 4 + years in business finance
experience, with emphasis on financial analysis, budgeting,
forecasting and month end close Industry related experience a plus
and/or willingness to learn about the pharmaceutical industries and
the therapeutic areas supported. BS in Accounting/Finance required;
CPA or MBA a plus Strong working knowledge of Excel and Power-Point
is critical Experience with Hyperion, TM1 Cognos, SAP and Essbase
preferred Open minded and team player. A bility to work in a fast
paced e nvironment and within a matrix organization Excellent
communication skills, ability to interact with Senior Leaders
