Job Description:
Position: Senior Natural Language Understanding Engineer
(Cambridge, MA) Duties: Develop statistical Natural Language Understanding (NLU)
systems that can interpret and respond to spoken word commands in
multiple languages using machine learning algorithms. Develop and tune
tools to allow other NLU developers to create NLU systems. Develop
language resources for NLU, focusing on building linguistic grammars for
synthetic data creation. Perform grammar and data engineering to
bootstrap statistical NLU systems. Process and adapt user data to improve
the performance of NLU models. Perform error analysis and work on
creative solutions to increase NLU system accuracy. Understand
project-specific requirements regarding language resource coverage and
performance. Explore and implement new technologies for linguistic data processing
and annotation. Enhance techniques for rapid language development
for new languages and domains. Analyze field data to develop new
approaches as well as analyze shortcomings, identify areas of improvement and
enhancement of the state of the art of NLU modeling process. Requirements: Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in
Computational Linguistics, Mathematical Linguistics or related field and one
(1) year of experience performing natural language processing; or in the
alternative, a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computational
Linguistics, Mathematical Linguistics, or a related field and three (3) years
of experience as indicated above. Also requires demonstrated expertise (DE): developing bi-lingual
or multi- lingual voice-control applications; DE transforming R&D
insights into practical customer applications; DE performing machine learning,
text mining, clustering, and knowledge representation; and DE
